We try to give an answer on all the questions that you may have.  The questions are organized by category. If the answer to your question is not listed or you can’t find the information you need, please just contact the salesman you see on the right site of this page.

Buying from Kleyn
Can I rent a van?

Unfortunately not. To be the best throughout Europe in our business we made choices. One of them is to sell and not rent vans out of our stock. Of course it is possible to lease vans from us.

Which vans do you sell?

Being the largest supplier of young dealer vans in Europe we sell all sorts of vans, the different categories are:

Do you accept cheques?

No, we can’t accept cheques. They’re gone for a few years now in the Netherlands. You can pay by domestic / international bank transfer, on the website, by debit card (MAESTRO/iDeal/PayPal), in cash up to 10.000 Euros, by credit card (MASTERCARD/VISA) at a 2.7% additional cost, L/C Letter of Credit (at sight) and (counter) bank guarantee.

Can I pay with a letter of credit (L/C)?

Yes, we accept a confirmed irrevocable L/C or L/C at sight as payment. Your bank will transfer the amount when we can prove that the vehicles you have purchased have been shipped. This method offers you even greater security.

This makes it easier to do business, because all the original shipping documents will be send directly to you when goods are being loaded on the vessel and you pay them within 30 days after shipping date. And we have a guarantee of payment. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are willing to provide you with an information document and exchange ideas to come to a construction we both can agree with concerning payment and delivery.

After opening the LC, please send us directly a copy, so we can immediately check the conditions mentioned. This will be completed by our Rabobank to get a confirmed irrevocable L/C. Please let us know which vehicle(s) you prefer?

 

What is a letter of credit? (LC)

The simple explanation is that a letter of credit is a promise to pay. A bank issues letters of credit as a way to ensure sellers that they will get paid as long as they do what they've agreed to do.

 

Why do you chose Letter of Credit as a payment method?

The use of a letter of credit gives you certain advantages:

  1. Assurance that goods will be delivered when payment will be done and vice versa.

  2. Assurance that no payment will be made until the required documents are checked and agreed.

  3. The opportunity to have extended or stretched out payment terms and interest that match accordingly.

  4. The opportunity to have an arrangement in which a debt does not have to be repaid until sometime in the future. This is called deferred payment.

 

Which parties are all involved in the L/C?

  1. The applicant: The person who opens the credit. In this case, you, the buyer of a vehicle.

  2. The Issuing bank: The bank where the credit is opened and that promises to pay.

  3. The beneficiary: The seller or ultimate recipient of funds.  In this case, us, where you buy the vehicle.

  4. The confirming and advising bank: The Rabobank, that checks and uses the letter of credit.

Must I pay the full amount in one payment when I buy a vehicle?

You can enter into a purchase contract based on a down payment. The down payment amount varies with a minimum of 10% of the total purchase amount. The down payment via the website is a fixed fee. The remainder must be paid by the agreed date. Once we see that the full amount has been paid into our account, the vehicle will be prepared for delivery.

How can I pay?

We accept the following payment methods: 

Domestic / international bank transfer, on the website, by debit card (MAESTRO/iDeal/PayPal), in cash up to 10.000 Euros, by credit card (MASTERCARD/VISA) at a 2.7% additional cost, L/C Letter of Credit (at sight) and (counter) bank guarantee.

Can I reserve a vehicle?

In consultation, the salesperson can provide you with the first option to buy a vehicle for you for a maximum of 24 hours. Making a down payment on the vehicle via the website offers you greater certainty. When we have another (international) client you’ll receive a phone call from us. If you answer the call you can decide to buy the vehicle and make a down payment and sign the contract. If you don’t answer we’re forced to sell the vehicle to the customer with the payment in front of us.

How can I sell my commercial vehicle(s) to you?

Simply request an offer for your vehicle and complete the form. One of our buyers will then contact you. You can also contact one of our salespeople directly. In most cases, he/she would want to know whether the vehicle is free of lease or financing, assess the vehicle by receiving photos, the mileage at the moment of coming in and check the registration (papers). Additional information about the engine’s power and its condition, body condition, check engine signals etcetera will provide you with a better offer. We always provide you with the current market value and are very happy you offering us your vehicle. We need vehicles every week and know the current market. If you and the buyer make a deal, further agreements will be made regarding delivery into our grounds or picking them up on our trailers (incl. second pair of keys, remote controls and full registration, maintenance and information documents), your identification duty and the following bank payment.

What payment terms apply when your company purchases vehicles?

Can I sell a large number of vehicles to you in one transaction?

Yes of course, our large global network means that we have to purchase large quantities of stock. Because of this, we can offer fleet managers a reliable disposal channel. Feel free to contact our buyers  for your European region for further information.

Documents & warranty
Can I take the vehicle out for a test drive?

Yes, we allow test drives. If you choose this option, one of our grounds men will accompany you.

How can I be certain that the quality of a vehicle is as good as you promise?

100 Years of experience, we’re nearly Royal, and a high proportion of repeat customers are clear indicators of our professionalism. For example, as soon as a vehicle comes into stock, we subject it to an inspection under the supervision of TÜV. We make the test report available to our customers in unedited form and without reserve. You can find the report online and when you’re with us. You therefore know exactly what you are buying. We call this ‘accredited quality’. This is standard for each (export) vehicle.

When you provide us with the time for it (5 days) and agree to deliver an extra service package on your van we can provide you with European guarantee at your local dealership. Simply call our professional and experienced service desk: They speak 13 languages! We can deliver this additional guarantee for you at vans with a maximum of 180.000 km / 8 years old and it can be chosen for 3 months or 12 months.

If serious faults are discovered, and you did not choose an additional service and guarantee package we will repair the vehicle at cost price for you or send you the part for our cost price. We treat all complaints seriously.

Do you give a guarantee?

Our trademark is ‘accredited quality.’ All our vehicles are sold with a TÜV certificate. This means that each vehicle is inspected to TÜV standards when it comes in. We make the test report available to our customers in unedited form and without reserve. You can find it online and when you are with us. This is standard for each (export) vehicle.

When you provide us with the time for it (5 days) and agree to deliver an extra service package on your van we can provide you with European guarantee at your local dealership. Simply call our professional and experienced service desk: They speak 13 languages! We can deliver this additional guarantee for you at vans with a maximum of 180.000 km / 8 years old and it can be chosen for 3 months or 12 months.

If serious faults are discovered, and you did not choose an additional service and guarantee package we will repair the vehicle at cost price for you or send you the part for our cost price. We treat all complaints seriously.

How do I obtain an export registration plate?

Off course you can load your bought vehicle on or in a trailer or drive with it with your own insured registration plates. Be aware, driving home with a vehicle which is not prepared in our workshop with an additional service or guarantee pack is at your own risk. We can also arrange export registration plates and insurance for you.

Dutch export registration plates

  • Only available for Dutch vehicles with a valid Dutch vehicle safety inspection (APK) certificate
  • Valid for 14 days
  • Immediately available on working days
  • Price: €175 (including insurance)


In-Transit export registration plates (only if vehicle is purchased at Kleyn)

  • For vehicles which are not from The Netherlands with a valid technical inspection certificate
  • Valid for 14 days
  • Delivery 3 working days
  • Price: €275 (including insurance)


Austrian export registration plates (only if vehicle is purchased at Kleyn)

  • Possible for all vehicles
  • Valid for 21 days
  • Delivery: 1-2 working days
  • Price: from €400 (including insurance)

Visiting Kleyn
Can I visit you (without making an appointment) in order to view a vehicle?

You are welcome to drop in to view a vehicle during opening hours. We do however advise you to contact us beforehand as the vehicle may already have been sold. And… because of being the largest European supplier with +500 vans in stock, you’ll need over an hours’ time here..! You’re very welcome.

How do you visit us?

You can fly by plane to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, Rotterdam The Hague Airport, Eindhoven Airport, Brussels / Bruxelles Charleroi Airport, Maastricht Aachen Airport, Bremen Airport, Keulen Airport, Munster Airport or Weeze Niederrhein Düsseldorf Airport in Germany. We have our own daily VIP Shuttle taxi’s and our chauffeurs can welcome you at the airport and bring you in a comfortable and fast way to our grounds in Vuren. When you keep in close contact with us, we’ll place a vehicle under reservation for 48 hours when you send us a copy of your flight details.

You can also reach us by NS railway. The most nearby NS train stations are both Geldermalsen and Gorinchem. Our chauffeurs can pick you up there. When you’re very kind to them they will even carry your luggage and do some sightseeing on the way with you!

For your stay we have special discount on bed and breakfast arrangements at the affordable Campanile Gorinchem Hotel and at the comfortable Schildkamp Asperen Hotel. Please inform us before you decide to come over so we can help you to have a pleasant stay in The Netherlands while we arrange your vans for you.

Can I submit a search assignment to you?

Yes, you can register for an My Kleyn account at our website and indicate what you are looking for. After  registering you can save your search query (or queries) so that you can repeatedly conduct searches based on the same specifications. Save and activate your search query and you will receive an e-mail from us as soon as a vehicle that complies with your indicated specifications comes into stock. Another possibility is to use the search function on the website.

Financing & payment
Do you finance or lease your vans?

Because of Dutch legislation we finance or lease our vans when they’re registered in The Netherlands. We can help your bank with all the details about the van you like to finance.

Is Financial Lease also available for me?

Financial lease is available for registered companies within the Netherlands.  If you own a company that is registered outside of the Netherlands, we conduct an additional examination of lease options for your country. Our sales staff will contact you upon receipt of the application form, and guide you through the leasing process.

Are your prices inclusive or exclusive of VAT (BTW)?

All prices shown are exclusive of VAT (BTW), because of our mostly business clients. When you don’t have a valid VAT number simply add 21% VAT, except when the vehicle is displayed as being a margin vehicle (0% VAT / BTW). So we can sell to private persons. 

For companies we always check the validity of your VAT number in the international VIES system. You should have it activated for European transactions at your Chamber of Commerce in Europe.

You do not have to pay VAT (BTW) if you buy a vehicle that will be shipped outside the EU. You do however pay a VAT (BTW) deposit of average 10% of the purchase amount. When we get provided proof the vehicle left the EU at the place you informed us about on the contract and you provide us with your local registration you are refunded the deposit. After 12 months it’s redeemed into our account and can’t be claimed for.

How does the VAT (BTW) deposit work for customers outside the EU?

You do not have to pay VAT (BTW) if you buy a vehicle that will be shipped outside the EU. You do however pay a VAT (BTW) deposit of average 10% of the purchase amount. When we get provided proof the vehicle left the EU at the place you informed us about on the contract and you provide us with your local registration you are refunded the deposit. After 12 months it’s redeemed into our account and can’t be claimed for.

Do I have to pay VAT (BTW) when I buy a vehicle from you?

Most of our customers do not have to pay VAT (BTW). You do not have to pay VAT if you are domiciled in an EU member state outside the Netherlands and you have a valid VAT number. Transactions of this nature are intra-community supplies. In the case of Dutch customers, we have to charge 21% VAT (BTW). Business customers can, of course, reclaim the VAT (BTW) paid.

Shipping & transport
What are the shipping costs?

If you wish, we directly calculate the transport costs for your vehicle on the website during the ordering process. Transport costs include transportation to the port, shipping, insurance and all the paperwork that will be sent with DHL.

Can I take the vehicle with me immediately after purchase?

All vehicles offered on the Kleyn Group website are physically present on the ground in Vuren, unless they’re marked with an external location additional text at the remarks. Business customers have the vehicle at their disposal upon payment of the full amount payable.

The physical transfer/delivery takes place after consultation with the customer. The reasonable period within which delivery takes place depends on what has been agreed with the customer on the manner in which the vehicle should be delivered. The customer can take care of the delivery and pick up the vehicle himself/herself. We can also carry out delivery on behalf of the customer. Then, transportation by road or (CIF) transshipment shall be arranged (at customer’s expense, unless otherwise agreed).

How can I obtain the required shipping and export documents?

We have a specialized department that arranges all the paperwork for you. Our worldwide presence and extensive experience mean that our staff can provide expert assistance with the shipment of vehicles to almost any country in the world. In most countries we also have agents who can assist.

How can I ship multiple vehicles as efficiently as possible?

Do you want to ship as many vans or other light commercial vehicles at the lowest possible cost? If so, ‘stacking’ on a tractor head may be the solution. This involves placing multiple vehicles on another vehicle. Obviously, this must be done safely and places high demands on both personnel and equipment. Our workshop possesses the required expertise and heavy lifting equipment. Loading into a box truck or container is also a possibility off course.

 

Can you arrange shipping?

Yes, we can ship the vehicle you have purchased to any destination in the world. Road transport is normally used for European destinations. In the case of more remote destinations, we arrange transportation to a Dutch or Belgian seaport. From there, your vehicle is shipped to the country of destination. Our online catalogue includes a facility that allows you to request an estimate of the costs of shipping each vehicle to the most common destinations worldwide.
